Creating your own activities or getting involved in activities from what you can do within your comfort zone for yourself or family is a way to encourage unity within yourself and other people around you.

These type whole concept to become a "Vicky Pollard" gossiping and using swear words to describe people who didn't give freebies simply because a household chosen to give sweets for charity funds not for own pocket.
